Acclamator-class Assault Transport

Acclamators are large assault transports originally used by the Old Republic. They ferried clone troopers and their support vehicles through space, and down to the surface of the planet they were being deployed to. Acclamators carried LAAT gunships, LAAT/c vehicle-deployment craft, AT-TE walkers, SPHA-T heavy artillery, and other military materiel.

Acclamators are 762 meters long, and are related to the Star Destroyer lineage of ships. However, while being reasonably well-armed, their weapons are somewhat inaccurate, and less than ideal for engaging other capital ships. Nevertheless, they were critical in the space-combat role during the early days of the Clone Wars, before sufficient dedicated combat vessels could be commissioned.

Acclamators remained in use under the Galactic Empire, serving primarily in backwater sectors where more modern craft were unavailable.
