Auricon EF-7 PPG

The Auricon EF-7 PPG is the standard issue Sidearm of Earthforce personnel as well as affiliated security forces on installations like Babylon 5.

The PPG is a small, compact lightweight firearm which is ideally suited for use in spacecraft and space stations as well as in colonised areas which have enclosed areas for life support, for example, the Mars Colony. The reason for this is due to the nature of the PPG's energy based charge it will not penetrate the hulls of ships or damage the dome in a colony. In this respect it has replaced conventional slugthrower weapons in service outside Earth.

The EF-7 is a sidearm, unsuited for use as a primary weapon in heavy assault duties but nonetheless in its intended role it serves the Earth Alliance well.

Ammunition is replenished by a system called 'caps' which is a small plug shaped module which is inserted into the back of the weapon. It's not sure what the exact ammunition capacity is of an EF-7 cap, but estimates are between 8-12 shots per cap.

Earth Alliance PPG's are distinguished by having a unique number burned into each barrel to trace its whereabouts though the Earthforce Covert Ops division is an exception having no numbers in their PPG's. Paradoxically this makes them stand out more.
