Autocannon

Autocannons are popular vehicle and mech mounted weapons. They come in various sizes and models. Their advantage over energy weapons is that they do not generate nearly as much heat, and the damage from an Autocannon can be considerable.

The main disadvantage though is that like all non energy weapons, the Autocannon has a finite ammunition supply. Of course, this disadvantage is offset by the fact that projectile weapons as a whole do not generate as much heat as their energy based equivalents. Despite the ammunition disadvantage, these weapons continue to be widely used.
