Babylon 5 (Comic)

DC Comics produced a run of Babylon 5 comics, the story quality varied with the two arcs initially produced being fairly close to canon. However, a combination of poor sales, mediocre artistry and later on some distinctly below average stories led to the series being cancelled after 11 issues.

The first four part story arc followed Jeffrey Sinclair when he was made ambassador to Minbar. Implicated in a plot to assasinate the new leader of the Grey Council, Sinclair finds himself on trial.

The second four part arc follows Garibaldi and Keffer, who decide to check out a Centauri colony shortly after the events of 'Chrysalis'. With their shuttle downed and the two Earthmen having to survive in a hostile environment, Garibaldi tells Keffer that this seems eerily similar to the first time he met Sinclair on Mars when he ran a private company. The story alternates between the situation on the Centauri colony and the Mars storyline.

A two part storyline following Narn Ambassador G'Kar in rather strange circumstances was not received well. After that there was a single Psi Corps special done in a propoganda style, showing an apparent origin of the history of the corps and even apparently showing that a Psi Corps pilot influenced Commander Sinclair during the Battle of the Line, giving him the strength to carry on. This last issue, which was fairly well done in itself, was not enough to save the comic.

Some years later, there was a three part story 'In Valens Name' which involved the finding of a derelict Babylon 4, as well as some backstory to the Great War over a 1000 years ago. This was originally printed in the UK Official Babylon 5 magazine, but demand was so great, that DC Comics reprinted it as a three part story and later a graphic novel.
