Breakaway

Possible signs of intelligent life have been discovered emanating from the distant planet Meta. A deep space probe has been readied and its crew has been doing pilot training on the Far Side of the Moon. The flight crew crash, their condition is critical, and Commander John Koenig, who once served on Moonbase Alpha, is dispatched there by Commissioner Simmonds to get the Meta Probe launched.

When Koenig arrives to replace Commander Gorski, he quickly realises that there is more wrong than has first been indicated. A large number of deaths at the Nuclear Disposal Areas, vital for the dumping of Nuclear Waste from Earth seems somehow to be connected to the state of the Meta Probe Crew.

Koenig must react to this situation quickly and find out what connects two seemingly unrelated occurences.

This was the pilot episode of the series and established most of the characters. One notable exception was Benjamin Ouma, the computer controller played by Lon Statton. He would be replaced by David Kano.
