Chief Judge Cal

Formerly head of the SJS, Judge Cal seems to have slipped through the Justice Departments pysche profiling. While he was ambitious and perhaps a bit zealous, all vital in the role of head of the SJS, it appears that no one on the Council of Five had an inkling of just how unbalanced he was.

Cal tried to get Dredd framed for murder after his return from the Cursed Earth mission to Mega-City Two, and despite the protestations of Chief Judge Goodman, Dredd was found guilty.

Later, he seized power, killing Goodman. Dredd, a few street Judges, some rookies and the Judge tutors were the only ones who seemingly were not working for Cal. The reason being that every morning, the briefing given at Justice Department had been modified to give subliminal suggestions to obey Cal unconditionally.

Cal brought in a variety of programs. He made a goldfish his Deputy Chief Judge, even though no one understood what he said!! He erected a wall round Mega-City One to keep the citizens from escaping, built by slave labour. Though ironically, this wall would be responsible for saving Mega-City One on a number of occasions. He also brought in Klegg mercenaries to help keep order. Another proposal was to start the execution of the civilian population in alphabetical order, which started with the poor unfortunate who had renamed himself Aaron A Aardvark so he would be the first listed name.

Cal was eventually overthrown and Judge Tutor Griffin became Chief Judge.
