Carrack cruiser

The Carrack is a light cruiser, used primarily by the Galactic Empire. The ship is considered relatively small at 350 meters long, but carries significant firepower for its size. Typical weaponry includes ten heavy turbolasers and twenty ion cannons. The ion cannons can be replaced with laser cannons for anti-fighter duty.

The Carrack is as fast as an X-wing fighter, making it one of fastest cruisers available to the Empire. However, it lacks a hangar bay, being equipped only with five external racks for TIE fighters. These fighters are used mainly for reconnaissance and for relaying secure messages to other ships.

The vessel utilizes a unique compartmentalization system which seals off damaged sections of the ship and greatly increases its durability. Nevertheless, the ship is vulnerable to larger vessels such as Star Destroyers and Mon Cal cruisers. Its main role is not as a heavy combat vessel, but rather as a support cruiser or patrol craft for pacified sectors.
