Commpost

Commposts are situated at strategic locations throughout Alpha, and are used as communications devices. Base alerts and announcements can be relayed through these devices ensuring that the maximum number of people hear them.

Prior to the Breakaway, the Commposts could also relay Earth television channels and also transmit the Alpha News Service.

If the episode Dragon's Domain is to be believed, it seems that some, it not all crew quarters also have a Commpost in them. The reason for this might be that since Cellini was an Eagle pilot and might be needed to respond quickly, a commpost is put in his quarters and those of others who might need to respond quickly to emergency announcements.
