Cybermen(2006)
The Cybermen are a race of cyborgs bent on conquering and upgrading every single being in the universe into one of their own.
They were created on Earth in an alternate dimension as a means of achieving immortality by one John Lumic, CEO of Cybus Industries and likely his world's most powerful man - with influence and factories all over the world. As Lumic was suffering from failing health and old age, he started the Cybermen project to relieve his sickness and mortality, but then begain to believe all of humanity would want this 'upgrade'.
Cybus Industries first started by abducting the homeless on every inhabited continent, experimenting with them and finally turning them into Cybermen, the first of their kind.
After the initial tests and experiments were completed, Lumic wanted the British goverment to acknowledge the Cybermen and endorse the project so that every human would undergo the treatment, but the President of Great Britain refused as it was obscene and unethical. Lumic, furious about the insult and determined to start his dream in his home country, initiated his plans without clearance.
The first phase was to have the first generation of Cybermen assault a celebration party of one of his employees - Pete Tyler - where the President was attending, and have them killed. This was the first time the Doctor and Rose encountered the new Cybermen, narrowly escaping with Pete with help from the Preachers. Then Lumic started the second stage, by activating a radio-signal that hypnotized everyone wearing EarPods and directing them to the local Cybus factory to be upgraded into Cybermen. After a partially succesful murder attempt by his henchman, Lumic was taken by his Cybermen against his will to be converted to a superior type of Cyberman, the Cybermen Controller.
The Doctor defeated the Cybermen by disabling their emotion-nullifying chips, and created chaos that destroyed them and the Cyber Controller in the process.
Later on, some remaining Cybermen used inter-dimensional travel to go to our Earth, infiltrating the Torchwood of both dimensions. Their invasion was first disguised as the appearance of ghosts, until the rift between the Void and our world was breached enough to enter. Five million Cybermen appeared all over the globe and their victory seemed at hand.
But the appearance of the Cult of Skaro interfered with their plans as their weapons were useless against the Daleks. Even after going into a temporary alliance with the Doctor and Torchwood, the Cybermen were unable to stop the Daleks and were even more overpowered when Dalek Sec released millions of imprisoned Daleks.
A attempt to retreat back to their world was halted by a Cyber-upgraded Yvonne Hartman, and they were finally sucked into the Void by the Doctor. This seems to be the end of the parallel Cybermen, and it is unknown if they will ever return.
