Danilov-class cruiser
Unlike ZAFT, the Earth Alliance maintains an extensive and powerful surface navy, the backbone of which is the 190-meter long Danilov-class cruisers.
There are two distinct subclasses within the Danilov-class, the Arkansas and Des Moines-classes. The Des Moines-class, as it is an anti-surface combatant, mounts a rapid-fire cannon on its forward deck, configured for low-angle targets. As the Arkansas-class is built for antiaircraft/mobile suit combat, it replaces the RF gun turret with a high-angle/low-angle twin beam cannon turret, presumably accepting reduced power in favour of higher tracking speed.
Both classes' secondary armaments are identical, comprising a 63-cell vertical launch system for antiaircraft/mobile suit missiles, ten anti-ship missile launchers, and a pair of CIWS Gatling guns.
Named ships of the class are the Oleg, Danilov, Arkansas and Des Moines.
