Darians

While the entry 'Darians' is one group, there are in fact two distinct factions. The 'pure' Darians appear to be the most civilised, wearing contempary clothing, with access to various scientific methods, and the 'outcast' Darians who live in the ruined parts of the SS Daria.

The Pure Darians in fact are a dying race, when the nuclear accident that befell their vessel caused them to seal themselves in the command centre of the the Daria, they knew their time was limited and their days numbered. They instituted a religion of sorts among the survivors who had descended into barbarism. This religion consisted of a sacrifice of sorts of those who were imperfect. These sacrifices would be taken to a sacred chamber (in fact a matter transporter) and the sacrifice would find themselves in the Daria's command area.

The surviving pure Darians used tissue grafts, organ donations and various other surgical methods to keep themselves living many years beyond their alloted life span, in fact the reasoning was so that the gene bank still locked away in the Darias command centre could be preserved until planned planetfall.
