Dauntless

The Dauntless is the name of Kimball Kinnison's private Super-Dreadnought: a ship specially designed for his needs. Unlike a normal Super-Dreadnought, the Dauntless was capable of taking on even Maulers if need be, yet was far faster with a cruising speed of 80 parsecs per hour (pph) - though no upper limit was ever specified, it is reasonable to assume that it could do 100pph easily, and possibly far faster speeds.
The Dauntless is also far more powerful than most ships smaller than it: even before it had Medonian superconductors installed, it destroyed 21 Boskonian battleships in just under 2 seconds in a battle over Medon with its its Primary Beams.
In addition to being extremely powerful, the Dauntless was also famous for various other reasons: it was the first Patrol ship into the Second Galaxy, the first Patrol ship to enter nth Space (and had the equipment to build a hyper-spatial tube automated base station there), and also served as the private yacht for Kimball Kinnison and Clarissa MacDougal when the two married.
By the time of 'Children of the Lens' however, the Dauntless has had its day and has become a science ship - 'Space Laboratory Twelve'. However the name lives on in another (and presumably even more powerful) version, again used by Kinnison as his private yacht / warship.
