F-66A Thunderbolt VII

The Thunderbolt VII is used in the last days of the Terran-Kilrathi war. Manufactured by Douglas Aerospace, it is a heavy fighter capable of absorbing tremendous amounts of punishment. It is also capable of being used as an ad hoc bomber when Longbows are not available by mounting a single Torpedo on the centreline pylon.

Heavily armed with two plasma guns, two photon cannons and two meson guns, the Thunderbolts main weakness is that if all weapons are fired at one time, the energy banks will be drained in a few bursts. Most pilots therefore cycle their weapons or make sure that their shots count. A rear facing turret mounts a single mass driver to discourage Kilrathi pursuit. This is vital as the Thunderbolt is slower and less agile than the Arrow or Hellcat and even the new Excalibur.

In addition to its single torpedo hardpoint, missiles can be mounted on six hardpoints giving this heavy fighter a tremendous punch.
