F-96B Arrow

The Arrow class light fighter manufactured by Douglas Aerospace is the primary short range fighter of the Terran Confederation in the latter years of the Confed-Kilrathi conflict.

The Arrow primarily serves as a short range scout fighter and as an interceptor where its nimbleness and high speed make it eminently suitable.

Armed with two lasers and two Ion guns, it is not really that heavily armed, but considering it is usually acting in concert with other fighter classes or capital ships this isn't too much of a concern.

The armour of the Arrow is not very thick, and the shields can't take too many hits, but an Arrow flown by a skilled pilot can defeat fighters far heavier armed or armoured than it is. It's simple design also makes it easy to fly.

After the end of the Terran-Confed conflict, large numbers of Arrows find themselves decommisioned and sold on the surplus market. From there they find themselves employed in local militias, small independent governments and also pirate groups.
