Firefly

The story of Firefly follows the crew of the Firefly class transport vessel Serenity. The main characters are a rag-tag bunch, with some war veterans, two fugitives, a mercenary and others. Unlike many sci-fi shows, the crew of the Serenity have widely differing opinions and viewpoints. This often leads to conflicts and is ideal for a more character driven show.

The sectors that are shown in the series are of the frontier style, giving the show a distinctive Western look.

Unlike Joss Whedon's previous success with Buffy and Angel, Firefly seems to have been treated poorly by networks and shunted to obscure time slots, it was cancelled after one season. A movie entitled 'Serenity' was produced and met modest success. There are hopes that the takings from the movie, combined with DVD sales of both the movie and the series will encourage the series to be picked up by another network.
