Freelancer

Consists of two starship-simulation games for the PC: StarLancer and FreeLancer, the latter game being an open trade/exploration game with an innovative implementation of the mouse to control your ship. It was also distinguished by its ship designs, which were designed too look 'good' rather than practical.

StarLancer is a fairly mediocre game, that places the player into the midst of a large war fought in the solar system between two alliances - the east, which includes mainly Russia and China, and the western, democratic countries.

Freelancer is a loosely connected sequel that takes place after the victory of the eastern alliance over their western foes. It takes place in a area of space colonized by the American, British, Japanese and German refugees, far from Earth.
