G.O.D. Satellite

The Global Orbital Defence, or G.O.D. platform is a highly destructive planetary defence platform which potentially has the power to destroy any invading fleet. The present form of defence network has already been tested twice.

The first time was during the year 2261, when Captain John Sheridan led a fleet to liberate Earth from President Clark's oppressive regime. The satellites were destroyed by a combination of Earth and Minbari forces, but they inflicted heavy damage on the fleets.

The second time was against the Drakh strike fleet. In addition to the satellites, the majority of the EA fleet was there yet still the Drakh managed to deploy their bioweapon.

The satellites are armed with multiple batteries of missiles, approximately 80 per satellite. As is standard on EA ships and installations, the GOD sat is also armed with an interceptor grid. As an anti fighter and light capship weapon, the satellite has 3 rapid firing pulse cannon.

The main weapon though is a large particle beam weapon, which although slow firing can destroy practically anything it hits. The power of one of these beam weapons can be estimated when one satellite would have devastated the majority of the Eastern Seaboard of the Continental USA. This nearly happened when President Clark turned the satellites against Earth.
