GROPOS (Group)

Gropos, or 'Ground Pounders,' is the slang term for the Earth Force Marine Corps, the Earthforce shock troops who are generally sent into heavy combat zones - as and when they are needed.

The Gropos usually suffer heavy casualties, and did so in the disastrous Earth-Minbari war, yet they earned the grudging respect of the Minbari Warrior Caste.

Since the Earth-Minbari war, and prior to the breakaway of Babylon 5 and the seccession of Proxima III and the Mars Colony, the Gropos had not seen much action. However, the 356th Marine Corps division did take the rebel fortress of Akdor, suffering heavy casualties.

The 356th was commanded by General Richard Franklin.
