Gundam

A Gundam is a powerful, adavanced type of Mobile Suit. The most noticable feature of Gundams is it's visual appearance: often resembling a Samurai in armor. Also notable is that Gundams are able to withstand large amounts of damage because of special armor. The type of armour varies from series to series, often a spcical metal alloy and, more recently, special powered armor.

Because of it's humanoid shape, the Gundam is equiped with a variety of weapons, ranging from Gattling guns to energy weapons. The most notable weapons are the Beam Sword, a light saber-like device, and the Beam Rifle. Most Gundams have high ranges of firepower. Some Gundams are also equiped with various other abilities and technologies, inculding the ablilty to transform.

Some Gundams are designed to a certian theme. For example, the Deathsctyhe Gundam has a Girm Reaper theme. It is painted black, carries a scythe, and is stealthy. The Custom Wing Zero Gundam has an Angel theme, it has speical 'wings' that act as a sheild and help in flight.

Because of their durablity, speed, and heavy firepower, Gundams are legendary. In the various televison shows, a Gundam is piloted by the protagonist.

Note on naming: The term 'Gundam' has a different difinition in each universe. In the orginal series, Gundam refers to the first mobile suit with that name and others that look simlar to it. In Gundam Wing and G-Gundam, Gundam refers to Mobile suits armoured with a certain alloy. In Gundam SEED, Gundam is an a acronym.
