Hanonian Land Eel

The Hanonian Land Eel is a giant, serpent-like carnivore which lives on Hanon IV. Predatory in nature, it inhabits mountainous caverns and ambushes prey that approaches its lair, leaving their bones piled at the cave entrances.

In 2373, when the Kazon captured the USS Voyager and left it's crew on Hanon IV, the Hanonian Land Eel attacked and killed Ensign Hogan. The rest of the crew was endangered by the creature when they were forced to flee into the caves where the Land Eel lives.

In 2374, a Voth scientist searched the caves and found the remains of Ensign Hogan, but himself not attacked by the Land Eel.
