Heavy Gear

A table top based miniature and roleplaying game developed by Dream Pod 9.

Heavy Gear is set in the 62nd Century of Earth's timeline or the year TN 1933 on the planet Terra Nova. A colony settled nearly 10 centuries before. Abandoned by the then current Earth government, Terra Nova developed fighting suits they called 'gears' to defend themselves in the early days of the Earth's departure during the chaos and conflict.

Over time however several factions developed from the ruins of the once Earth controlled regime. These include the Confederated Northern City-States, and the Allied Southern Territories each based around the North and South Poles respectively. The middle between these two mega nations is known as the Badlands and is usually where conflict between the two super states occurs and is the harshest enviroment on Terra Nova.

Several rogue factions exist in this area including the genetically engineered soldiers abandoned by Earth in Port Arthur and the most powerful political faction in the Badlands, Paxton Arms. Earth came to reclaim Terra Nova during a renewed expansionist period only to be repelled by the Terra Novans in what is called the 'War of the Alliance' when the North and South united to defeat the invasion. The period after remained relatively calm with only a few border skirmishes to mark the spaces in between as the North and South entered a period of cold war. The current state of the Heavy Gear universe is that Terra Nova is on the verge of a second Earth invasion and the factions of Terra Nova must join together to defeat a new onslaught from their would-be masters or remain fragmented and be destroyed.
