Heirs of Empire

Colin McIntyre has become Emperor of the brand-new 5th Imperium, and Earth is busy spreading off-world colonizing Birhat and other 4th-Imperium star systems. However, McIntyre has to now deal with both civil and military problems, as the 5th Imperium seeks to revive the derelict 4th Imperium Battle Fleet. Domestically, religious and terorist associations have united under Lawrence Jefferson, who is Lieutenant Governor of Earth and is seeking to dethrone Colin and the entire Imperial Family. As Colin's royal children graduate from the Academy, Jefferson sabotages the starship that they are to ride on causing it to explode en route, in a plot to kill all of the royal children. DAHAK, however, intervenes, and the ship's computer loads the children on a battleship before detonating. The children are stranded in deep space, and steer the ship to the nearest star system, where they find a degenerated 4th-Imperium world that survived the bioweapon. Needing to contact the 5th Imperium for rescue, the children instigate a world-wide religious reovlt on a wordl which has reverted to medieval technology. Needless to say, the coup de tat of Jefferson is stopped, and the children manage to take control of the planet and succeed in contacting the Imperium.
