House Atreides

House Atreides as of the Arrakis affair is headed up by Duke Leto Atreides, father of Paul Atreides.

The Atreides are one of the older families in the Landsraad, and one that had increasing popular support. The Emperor saw this as a threat. Atreides forces were well disciplined and had great loyalty to their Duke. The Atreides fostered great loyalty in their soldiers and servants as unlike some of the Great Houses, they were not mistreated. Despite this, betrayers of the Dukes trust would of course be treated harshly but the Atreides were typically seen as benevolent.

The ancestral home of House Atreides was the water world Caladan.
