Hyper-Spatial Tube

Originally developed by the Boskonians, the Hyper-Spatial tube is a tunnel through space, allowing speeds far in excess of even those used by inertialess drives. There is a peculiar gut-wrenching sensation as you enter the tube which nobody seems to be able to get used to.
Normally powered by a fixed base station, Hyper-Spatial tubes can be collapsed at will, trapping any ships inside in an alternate dimension (there may in fact have been many alternate dimensions, but only one is discussed in the books: nth Space).
When Kinnison was trailing a Boskonian speedster in his private superdreadnought the 'Dauntless' he and the crew were forced into nth Space, though it took Mentor of Arisia a mere 29 seconds to track them down. Making the best of the situation however, the Patrol proceeded to use nth Space as a source of practically unlimited nth Space planets - only two were ever converted into missiles in the books, but it is known that no one in Boskone had ever heard of nth Space let alone visited it (though the Arisians predicted that the Eddorians could once they saw nth Space planets in action).
