Interdictor cruiser

Interdictor cruisers, officially called Immobilizer 418 heavy cruisers, are special warfare vessels designed around a single purpose: preventing the escape of enemy ships into hyperspace.

While some related variants - such as the Vindicator cruiser - are suited to front-line combat, the Interdictor is poorly armed for a ship of 600 meters. It carries only twenty quad laser cannons, hardly enough to engage other capital ships effectively. However, this is not the vessel's primary role.

The most distinctive features of the Interdictor are the four large globes set within its hull. These are gravity-well generators, designed to mimic the effects of a planetary body in space. This distorts local hyperspace, preventing enemy ships from slipping away at superluminal speeds. The Interdictor was a key component of Imperial military strategy, highly useful for capturing Rebel ships trying to use guerilla tactics.

It is believed that several Interdictors, along with defensive escorts, held back from the main Imperial fleet during the Battle of Endor and ensured that the Rebels would not be able to escape.
