Star Commander Joanna
Star Commander Joanna is a bitter woman. She saw her chances of a Bloodname pass her by in a series of mishaps, most of which were of her own making. Her foul temper and insubordination put her at odds with her superiors. The times she did manage to get into battle, often, she was then thwarted at any chance of personal glory. She was posted to the prestigious Falcon Guards unit, but that unit was all but destroyed in an Inner Sphere ambush, and the Falcon Guards disgraced.
Joanna was one of the main trainers of
Aiden Pryde, but later became involved in the plan to give him a second chance when he failed at his Trial of Position. This plan was hatched by
Ter Roshak, the Falconer Commander on Ironhold, and Joanna, a plain speaking and thinking warrior was disgusted by this machievellian attempt at Clan politics.
She despised Aiden Pryde for a long time, but helped him when he revealed that he was not Jorge, the Freeborn Warrior, an ID that he had been forced to take after Ter Roshak's plan succeeded. Due to her part in this plan, she, along with Aiden and Ter Roshak were forced to fight Trials of Position to keep their ranks, but this marred an already badly marked record. She helped Aiden to win the Pryde Bloodname in the Grand Melee, though she still maintained that she despised him and everything he stood for, and did it to spite some of her superiors.
When Aiden Pryde was made Commander of the reformed Falcon Guards it was a unit in disarray, mostly staffed with the rejects and outcasts from other Falcon units. Most of the personnel, be they warrior or technician were known for insubordination. Aiden drafted in Joanna to help whip them into shape and tighten up discipline which she achieved admirably. Her abrasive manner and Falconer training experience won her no friends however.
Joanna also had a total disregard for Freeborns, even more so than was typical for a member of the
Jade Falcon Warrior caste, but years of experience has made her friendly with
Star Captain Horse, Aiden's Freeborn friend, though to hear them talk to each other you would not know it. She is also friendly with Diana, Aiden's daughter from a brief relationship with Peri Watson, a Scientist who was a washout from his Warrior training days.
Joanna later achieved fame of her own sorts for killing
Natasha Kerensky, the famed 'Black Widow' of the
Wolf Clan. With Joanna's Summoner mech disabled, Natasha moved in for the kill and was herself killed when Joanna activated her jump jets, immolating Natasha inside her own cockpit.
Joanna is fairly content with her lot now, realising that any further chances at glory are long gone.
