War Marshal Kazan

War Marshal Kazan was the supreme commander of Sov-Block military forces at the time of the Apocalypse War and was answerable only to the Diktatorat, the three Judge ruling council in East-Meg One. Kazan was ruthless, while at the same time possessing a certain tactical brilliance.

Unfortunately, too often his plans were blocked by Judge Dredd and the resistance and he took his anger out on his subordinates. Known as 'Mad Dog' to his enemies and subordinates alike he was extremely ruthless.

Kazan was ambitious, after seizing control of large parts of Mega-City One he instigated a coup in East-Meg One executing the Diktatorat and taking control himself. Kazan captured Dredd, Anderson and others and intended to torture then interrogate them. This had happened after Dredd seized control of an East-Meg missile silo and nuked East-Meg 1. For this he had further demoted his long suffering adjutant, Isaaks and forced him to play a grim death of Russian Roulette. This, and the War Marshal's increasing insanity drove Isaaks to release Dredd and the others. Isaaks, though he hated Kazan, still regarded him as his War Marshal, and could not take direct action against him. Dredd had no such qualms and confronted Kazan in the command deck of his command post.

Judge Dredd executed Kazan for crimes against Mega-City One. Kazan died, unrepentant with the fateful words 'I regret nothing, I apologise for nothing' on his lips.
