Kushan

The Kushan, also known as the Kharakid and later renamed the Hiigarans, are a race of people who were exiled from their homeworld near the galactic core, after losing in a war to the Taiidani Empire. They have landed on the desert planet of Kharak, where they survived under the harsh conditions for some 3000 years.

Eventually, they have built an advanced technological civilization, launching exploration into the space surrounding their planet. They have discovered the ancient starship that originally brought them to the planet, as well as the fact that the human chemistry is incompatible with the local fauna, thus concluding they are not native to the planet. Over a period of 60 years, a humongous mothership was constructed in orbit to carry the people of Kharak to their ancient homeworld of Hiigara on a dangerous, treachorous journey.
