Legacy of the Aldenata

Legacy of the Aldenata:

Set during modern day earth, Humanity is approached by representatives of a multi-species federation spanning hundreds of star systems. They had previously avoided Earth as they feared Humanities capacity for violence, themselves all being genetic pacifists. Now though, the encroachment on the violent and bloodthirsty posleen into their space has forced them to try and recuit Humanity to their side. Earth, having only 5 years until the advance elements of the Posleen hoard reach Earth, begin adapting the new technology made available to them (Galtech) to human military use.

During the course of the books, two major things become apparent. Firstly that the dominant race in the federation, the Darhel, are manipulating Humanity with the aim of reducing humanitys numbers enough to be easy to control. They orchestrated key delays of GalTech deliveries to Earth, meaning that Earth was unprepared to properly defend itself when the Posleen arrived and kept all of world human forces from returning to earth to help in the defence. Secondly, the Posleen where incapable of developing the technology they used and had apparently been manipulated be some as yet unseen other party.

The books follow earth forces first engagements with the Posleen, through to the invasion of earth. Focusing mainly on the Exploits of Mike O’Neal and the GalTech equipped Armored Combat Suit (ACS) battalions, the latter books also feature one of the SheVa guns, massive multi-thousand ton mobile artillery designed to engage and destroy the Posleen landers, skyscraper sized starships operating close to the ground in close support of their ground forces.
