Manticore

Project Manticore is the organisation that is founded to develop a group of genetically engineered 'super soldiers'. When we first encounter Manticore, the only products of Manticore's experiments we see are the X5's as personified by Max, they look essentially normal and are nearly impossible to pick out from the general population.

However mention is made of earlier experiments that were confined to cells beneath the Manticore facility, and we also later see the X6 and X7's who are even more advanced products of genetic engineering programs.

As time goes on we also see that there is far more to Manticore than is first thought, with a far larger organization.
