MegaCarrier

The MegaCarrier class was the brainchild of Commodore Christopher Blair who thought that with lessons learned during the Confed-Kilrathi war, as well as the near war between Confed and the Union of Border Worlds that a decent sized military needed to be retained.

In the false armistice during the war, and immediately after the war, Confed had been almost too eager to decommision vast numbers of ship hulls due to being on a wartime economy.

Blair, along with other senior figures knew that the Kilrathi had fought an enemy prior to their war with the humans, yet they, with their vast military-industrial complex had been forced into a stalemate. Yet, the economists still demanded a reduction in hull numbers.

The MegaCarrier was intended to combine the abilities and numbers of about three of four standard fleet carriers in one hull. The class itself is relatively lightly armed.

After the TCS Midway, it isn't clear how many, if any MegaCarriers were constructed.
