Metroid Fusion

Set sometime after Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion revolves around the former homeworld of the Metroids. This world is now being overrun by a parasitic organism called 'X,' which formerly was kept in check by the Metroid population.

Soon after arriving, Samus is infected by the X contagion. To be saved, she must undergo a DNA splice with the genetic material of the last (and recently deceased) Metroid. By doing so, she not only becomes resistant to the X parasites, but is actually able to feed on them, in a sense.

The X parasites then proceed to take over an orbiting research station, which Samus of course must rid of their presence.
