Metroid Prime: Echoes

Set in the period before Super Metroid but after Metroid Prime: Hunters, Echoes introduced a new element to the series: a sort of light-dark duality between two parallel worlds.

Arriving on the planet Aether in the course of tracking down Space Pirates, Samus is enlisted by the advanced Luminoth to help in their losing struggle against the Ing, a race from the 'dark' version of the planet, which is bathed in dimensional fluctuations. While her primary goal is to wipe out the Ing, Samus must also face Space Pirates continuing their sinister experimentations.

Samus must also fight a dark twin, aptly named Dark Samus, who actually came into existence at the end of Metroid Prime.
