TCS Midway

The TCS Midway was the first of a new class of ships, the MegaCarrier. Designed in the post war environment, the Midway and any sister ships were intended to project power en-masse without needing to use larger numbers of smaller vessels.

It's also likely that the Midway was a testbed of sorts for future carrier development. The previous Vesuvius class for all it's capability was, for all intents and purposes of totally conventional Kilrathi War era design, but on a massive scale.

The intent of the MegaCarrier project was to carry two large squadrons of fighters of the latest type, using a new fully enclosed launch bay. Previous carriers using just a magnetic shield had been shown to be susceptible to heavy cap ship fire and suicide attacks.

The Midway was also the brainchild of then Commodore Christopher Blair who was on her maiden proving voyage.
