Mike Nelson

Mike Nelson became entangled with a diabolical bad-movie-watching experiment during his time working as a temporary employee for a pair of mad scientists. The scientists were planning to kill Mike as soon as his employment with them ended, but their scheming was overheard by a member of the crew on board the Satellite of Love, where the experiment was taking place. This crew member (one of the robots, Gypsy) mistook this plotting as a plan to kill her creator, Joel Robinson. Enlisting Mike's help - as he had access to the controls of the SoL - Gypsy was able to shoot Joel off the station with the only escape pod on board.

This event caused some panic for the mad scientists, who now lacked a subject for their attempt to find the most insanity-inducing movie ever. Realizing that a suitable test case was under their employment, they knocked Mike unconscious and shot him up to the SoL via rocket. Over the next several years, Mike and the robotic crewmembers of the SoL experienced a series of misadvantures - first becoming pure spirit at the edge of the universe, then returning to find that several hundred years had passed and Earth was now ruled by apes, then being pursued across time and space by the mother of one of the mad scientists. Eventually, Mike and the others made their way back to modern Earth, where the SoL eventually malfunctioned and crash-landed. After escaping from the crash site, Mike and his companions of five years settled comfortably into an apartment in Milwaukee.
