Miranda

The Miranda is a light cruiser, and was introduced by Starfleet in the 23th century. The Mirandas served as patrol and survey ships all the way into the 24th century.

The Miranda, along with the Excelsior, formed the bulk of the Federation fleet, during several wars, and many have been lost during the fighting with the Borg and the Dominion and the Cardassians. After the Dominion War, Mirandas are now slowly replaced with newer types of ships, like the Akira and the Steamrunner. There was a variant on the Miranda hullform, the Soyuz class which seemed to lack the characteristic Roll-Bar on top of the saucer section. An example of this subclass was the USS Bozeman which was trapped in a time loop.
