Observer

Observer actually had no true name; he was a member of the Observers, a race of beings so highly evolved that they carried their nearly omnipotent brains around in glass pans. The Observers made it their work to observe the universe, studying and recording its various phenomena, and Observer in particular was assigned to the Satellite of Love.

The SoL was being held in orbit of the Observer's homeworld when Mike Nelson requested assitance from the Nanites to help them escape. The Nanites responded enthusiastically, detonating the Observer's planet. Observer himself escaped and joined Pearl Forrester and Professor Bobo in their pursuit of the SoL. From this point onward, he was more commonly referred to as 'Brain Guy.'

Brain Guy traveled through time and space with Forrester and the others through many misadventures. At first, his intelligence and arrogance set him at odds with the simple-minded Bobo, and the two clashed over their differences. In time, though, Brain Guy relaxed, gradually abandoning his traditional ways in light of the fact that he was no longer living with other Observers. He came to appreciate the simpler kind of life preferred by Bobo, and the two became good friends.

Two other Observers eventually discovered Brain Guy eating chili dogs and watching TV on Earth, and they were disgusted that he had taken up such a lifestyle at a time when they were working to reconstruct their shattered homeworld. Brain Guy claimed that he had no idea any of them had survived (despite maintaining, out of pride, that he was still all-seeing and all-knowing). He was at first pressured into returning home with the other Observers, but Pearl and Bobo convinced him to stay by reminding him of the many delights a life on Earth had to offer. Brain Guy fought the other two Observers, eventually emerging victorious and turning them into rural Wisconsinites.
