Ornithopter

The Ornithopter is the prime method of transport for the Great Houses on the planet Arrakis. These craft vary in size and configuration, but all serve roughly the same purpose. Some are armed, some are not.

Their unique method of flight, mimicking the movement of a birds wings, makes them stand out from other craft. In the hands of a skilled pilot an Orni can perform high g manoevres in the most rugged terrain, although like other craft, flying into an Arrakis sandstorm will usually cause it to crash.

Atreides ornis are typically fast, lightly armed and smaller than their Harkonnen counterparts, although it is likely that the Atreides either could employ heavier Ornis for combat use or could quickly reconfigure existing models.
