Pax Planet-class Archangel Battlecruiser

A new ship design comissioned for the Church's crusade against the Ousters. It is equipped with class-10 containment fields and is constructed using advanced techniques, with stealth systems capable of rendering the ship practically invisible, a morphing hull containing some sections of pure fixed-energy, and the GIDEON drive. The GIDEON drive allows instantaneous FTL travel between any two points, with the side effect of killing the human crew of the vessel. However, this is not a problem for the Pax as the ship has automated ressurection creches, allowing anyone equipped with a cruciform to be brought back to life within a few days. In addition to the GIDEON drive, the ship's sublight fusion engine can impart accelerations in the hundreds of g's (with containment fields protecting the crew) and maintain velocities at least three-fourths the speed of light.

Armament includes energy lances (lasers) and charged-particle beams, with ranges being a signficant fraction of an AU. Long-range weapons include Hawking drive hyperkinetic missile with ranges at least 0.86 light-years. These warheads drop out of Hawking space near a target and destroy it using sheer kinetic energy, or a thermonuclear or plasma warhead. Other FTL weapons include Hawking-drive probes which deploy lances and CPBs in every direction, destroying or damaging every target within a hundred kilometers, and deathbeams, which kill any human target (by scrambling neurons) with no effect on nonliving objects.
Archangel Battlecruisers carry a crew around 28, including flight crew and a contingent of Marines and Swiss Guard for defense, boarding, and ground assault operations.
