Peter vanBuskirk

The gigantic, fun-loving, hard-fighting Space Marine whose combat-hardened Valerian soldiers so often provided ready assistance to Kinnison throughout his career. Bus dropped out of Valeria's Cadet Corps because of his inability to handle higher mathematics; while not a deep thinker, he possessed a keen brain and unswerving loyalty. His six-and-a-half-foot, four hudnred pound frame, trained under the triple-Earth gravity of his home planet, made him, like all Valerian soldiers, a fighting man whom no bepedal oxygen-breather would willingly meet in space-axe combat.
As a Sergeant of the Galactic Patrol, he led the Britannia's boarding party into a Boskonian warship to help obtain the secret of cosmic energy power. He accompanied Kim on the flight back to Tellus by way of Delgon (where he helped smash the Overlords), Velantia, and Trenco. vanBuskirk later led frequent boarding parties and landing forces in support of Patrol activities. From Sergeant, Bus eventually rose to the rank of Major, leading a full battalion of Valerian Space Marines.
