Colonel Saul Tigh

Colonel Saul Tigh is the Executive Officer of the Battlestar Galactica and has known Commander Adama for some years. Unfortunately he is a man with some major issues, as he is short tempered, impatient, and an alcoholic. The destruction of the colonies has done little to improve his temper, and he has little time for those he sees as insubordinate.

He achknowledges that Kara Thrace is a good pilot, but condemns her recklessness and her cavalier attitude towards authority. He doesn't think that Lee Adama, the commanders son really is cut out to be CAG either.

Eventually he is reunited with his wife, Ellen who was missing, presumed dead, but this does not improve his mood as she is a master manipulator always looking for ways to improve her own position in life, often at the expense of others.

Tigh's rather blunt attitude can lead to unfortunate consequences. For example, he declared Martial Law in the fleet when President Roslin was under arrest and sent troops in to quell rioting who were inexperienced in crowd control tactics.
