Scourge

Scourge are living missiles grown by the Zerg. Fast enough to chase down Terran and Protoss aerospace craft in atmosphere or the void of space, they are also capable of inflicting very serious damage to such targets. Upon impact, a Scourge undergoes a violent reaction that converts much of its mass into a high-energy plasma, detonating with enough force to blast through even the thick hull of a Battlecruiser. Indeed, even an upgraded Battlecruiser - the Norad II - was forced to crash-land on Mar Sara after suffering a Scourge attack. Scourge are less effective against fighter craft, probably because they are smaller and more maneuverable than capital ships and are thus harder to hit.

Scourge are of moderate size and have a simple genetic code, features which allow them to be spawned two to an egg. They are very fragile, and are at their most effective when their targets are embroiled in the chaos of a mass Zerg attack. Alone, they are easy pickings for anti-air weapons.
