Serenity (Film)

Despite being cancelled after just fourteen episodes, the TV series Firefly spawned a feature film.

With Joss Whedon's typical flare for dialogue and characterisation, the film is nothing short of a treat in terms of providing memorable lines and a solid plot. The effects sequences vary from accomplished to a little fake-looking, with the former very much more in evidence.

Spoilers for the plot follow.

The film concerns the character of River Tam, who has been a constant mystery during the series. Modified in some way by the Alliance, River has displayed latent combat skills and a knack for reading minds.

When the Alliance realises that she may have scanned the minds of many important Parliament figures, they send out an Operative to get her back at any cost.
