Star Trek: Enterprise

Set prior to The Original Series, Enterprise follows the crew of the first Warp 5 capable starship as humanity strikes out into the unknown.

The first two seasons of Enterprise were generally derided for being 'more of the same'. The series lacked any strong continuity (for example, useful technology picked up earlier in the series would mysteriously not be mentioned at a later point when it would prove helpful) and had a distinctly familiar feeling. The third season attempted to break this cycle with a season-spanning plot ark concerning a major attack on Earth, and Enterprise's subsequent journey to find those responsible.

The fourth and final season focussed more on smaller 3-4 episode mini arcs, and represented a marked improvement in writing style and plot. Unfortunately, it was too late to save the low-rating series from cancellation.
