Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
After the stark and sterile
Motion Picture it was decided that a more 'human' approach was needed.
Star Trek II reinforces the character relationships seeingly absent from the first film, and embraces the increasing age of the characters, whereas before it had been studiously avoided.
The film's plot centres around Khan, a villian originally featured in the
Original Series episode 'Space Seed'. Khan is a genetically engineered human from the late nineties, a prominent figure in the Eugenics Wars who was sent into space, in stasis, aboard a sublight ship as punishment for his war crimes. Gaining control of a Federation ship, and a powerful experiment, Khan seeks revenge on Kirk.
The Wrath of Khan is widely regarded as being among the best of the
Star Trek films. It features a strongly emotional core story, a rousing musical score, and well-realised special effects.
