Star Trek: Insurrection

Not a popular pick among fans, Insurrection is very much like an episode of the TV series. Like Generations, the crux of the plot revolves around the safety of a group of aliens. In this case, they aren't very alien, just Amish.

The evil Son'a want to inhabit the planet because of it's rejuvinating properties. The Federation strike a deal with them that puts the planet's inhabitants, the Bak'u, at risk.

The film is basically an easy-to-watch action flick, and doesn't sit right as a Star Trek film. The tone of the film is somewhat flippant, and doesn't really go anywhere particularly emotive or stirring.

It is packed with unnecessary moments, such as Riker controlling the Enterprise with a Gravis Joystick (I'm not joking), which looks pretty absurd, and some cringeworthy lines, especially from Data, who sometimes feels like he is playing the character from 'Encounter at Farpoint'.

The film is paced well, however, and has a few genuinely funny moments. Hardly unwatchable, this is generally regarded as an unwanted entry into Star Trek's movie outings.
