StarCraft

Perhaps the most popular real-time strategy game in history, StarCraft ushered in a new age of RTS games. With enormous sales figures around the world, StarCraft remained popular even a decade after its release, in an age where graphics and gameplay have become more and more complex.

StarCraft as a universe follows the interaction of three major groups: the human Terrans, who have colonized a region of space known as the Koprulu Sector; the biological Zerg Swarm, which is invading the sector on a mission of assimilation; and the Protoss, a highly advanced species whose history and fate are entangled with that of the Zerg.

StarCraft has a rich and twisting plot, with shifting alliances and internal rivalries forming the backdrop to numerous large battles. Few other RTS games have a plot with the level of depth displayed in StarCraft.

A sequel was announced in 2007 and is hotly anticipated by fans.
