YT1300 Freighter

The YT-1300 Freighter, designed by the Correllian Engineering Corporation, is an old design that is still popular among Outer Rim small traders. Long discarded by the large shipping concerns, these vessels are ideal for small businesses.

CEC built so many of the light freighters that there is still a thriving market in used hulls and spare parts, and owners seem to have a knack for customising these ships far beyond what their original design specs had intended.

Whether it's extra weaponry, thicker hull plating, better shield generators or any number of other modifications, the YT-1300 owner seems to be able to manage it. However, such versatility does come at a price. Unlike its replacements - newer models such as the YT-2400 - there are no sealed atmosphere-specific cargo holds, and thus carrying particularly sensitive materials is impossible. The cargo capacity for a baseline YT-1300 is considered small, at 100 tons. An unmodified ship has a very light armament of a single laser cannon.

The most famous example of this type of ship is the Millenium Falcon, most recently owned and operated by Captain Han Solo.
