Yuuzhan Vong

The Yuuzhan Vong were a sadistic species of warriors intent on conquering all other known races in the name of their gods. Interestingly, they are not native to the Star Wars galaxy, instead coming from a galaxy whose name is not currently known. Also of considerable note is the fact that, in some sense, they do not exist in the Force - instead appearing as an empty void to Force-users. This renders them almost completely immune to Force powers, and coupled with their amazing strength and prowess makes them a formidable opponent for even the most skilled of Jedi. The Yuuzhan Vong in turn hated the Jedi, considering them a blasphemy to their gods.


--The Invasion--

While the officially agreed-upon date of First Contact is listed at 30 BBY, it is quite possible that they had arrived at the outskirts of the Galaxy as early as 4000 years ago; Mandalorian soldier Canderous Ordo reported seeing a ship matching the description of a Yuuzhan Vong starfighter. This would fit well with the Vong's (known) patient mapping and subterfuge operations for years prior to their incursion.

Some time before the Clone Wars, Yuuzhan Vong scouting parties had discovered the sentinent planet Zenoma Sekot and had hoped to invade it. However, the enigmatic Jedi Knight Vergere offered herself in exchange for sparing the planet, stopping the invasion for the time being in order to learn more about the galaxy from her and others.

And so they waited until 25ABY to begin the invasion again. Their starting point was the Helska system, at the very edge of the galactic rim. Though it was accidently discoved by the New Republic and eventually destoryed, they push on through the galaxy, intent on claiming it as their own.

--End of an Era--

Through use of deception and a poor handling of the invasion on the New Republic's part, this was achieved during the Fall of Coruscant. It was considered one of the most massive battles in galactic history. Despite most of the New Republic Navy being stationed around the planet, the overwhelming number of Yuuzhan Vong ships slowly began to wear them down. By the end of the battle, massive casualties had occured on both sides, yet still the invaders kept coming. What remaining New Republic ships there retreated in all directions, and the capital of the galaxy was taken over by the Yuuzhan Vong.
