ZAFT (Zodiac Alliance for Freedom Treaty)

ZAFT is the military aillance of the PLANTS, in the Gundam SEED series. Zaft consists of genetically modified humans called Coordinators. Because of their advanced abilities and nature, Coordinators are persecuted, which lead many of them to move to orbiting space colonies called PLANTS.

Even after many Coordinators relocated, they were still hated and distrusted. Eventually, these tensons between Coordinators and normal humans (Naturals) lead to war.

ZAFT is actually the military forces controlled by the government of the PLANTs. However, many people use the term ZAFT to refer to all Coordinators fighting aginst the Earth Alliance.
